      Make sure you address the three subject areas, your academic goals, your career and/or personal goals,
      and how you will be better served with this degree than a traditional major and minor.
      better served with this degree than a traditional major and minor.

              Introduction: What are the three subject areas you have chosen?

              Why have you chosen to study these three subject areas?

              How do these subject areas better suit your goals than a traditional major and minor?

             Your statement should include (but is not limited to) answers to the following questions.
             For EACH of your subject areas, explain the following:

              * What is the importance of each subject area to your Major?

              * For each of your subject areas, discuss 2-3 specific courses (including course name and title) you have chosen, and why you chose them;
             what do you gain in studying these courses?

              * If one of your areas is thematic, identify the title of your thematic area, and explain how the courses you have chosen
             tie in to your subject area theme. How do the courses in the thematic area help you achieve your goals?

             Conclusion: How do these three subject areas better prepare you for your future goals than a traditional major or minor?
             If you have a specific career direction, what skills will you acquire through this Major that will help you achieve your career goals?
             If you don’t have a specific career in mind, in what ways could you see IDS preparing you for the different directions you might go?
