1) What is your position title and what are your job responsibilities?

Assistant Athletics Director for Public Relations and Special Events. Oversee special events, community outreach, website, media relations, publications, cheerleaders/mascots, public image messages, PR is a communications tool and we seek to influence attitudes.

2) How did you prepare for the work you do? What did you major in? Do you have a graduate degree? Any other special training or experience that helped?

Undergraduate Major - Psychology. Masters - Educational Leadership. Worked in college, networked with people in the University. Was a sponge, tried anything new and always asked if people could use additional help. Need good people skills and need to be able to manage multiple tasks.

3) Any recommendations to students interested in the kind of work you do?

Network, network, and network. Get internships early, don't wait until your senior year. However, if you're in your senior year, it isn't too late.
