STRONG INTEREST INVENTORY (SII)
(Offered by University College, Integrated Learning Center, Room 103, for a small fee.)

The Strong Interest Inventory is based on a career theory by Dr. John Holland that says individuals are more satisfied and more productive when:

  • they work in jobs or at tasks that they find interesting and when
  • they work with people whose interests are similar to their own.

The inventory will ask you a series of questions about your likes/dislikes and compare your answers to a data sample (thousands of people) who report being happy and successful in their jobs. You will be matched to:

  • Six General Occupational Themes (broad areas of interest)
  • 25 Basic Interest Scales (things you like to do)
  • 100+ Occupational Scales (specific job titles)

Your results WILL NOT tell you what you should be. The results DO match you to people with similar interests and therefore provide valuable insight into occupations you may enjoy as well.

Preview descriptions of the six General Occupational Themes.

I would like to speak with someone about taking the SII. We like to meet with you prior to taking the inventory so we can get to know you!
